Q&A with Scott
Can you tell us a bit about yourself, Scott? How long have you been with Eden?
I’m 56 and have been with Eden for just over 11 years. I’ve been a fan of punk and ska music for more than 40 years and love seeing live bands in small venues - though not as often these days (my legs have other ideas 😆). I also have seven grandchildren who definitely keep me on my toes!
What’s your role at Eden, and what does it involve?
I began my journey at Eden as a driver, a role I’m proud to continue to this day. My official title is Logistics Coordinator, but my responsibilities go far beyond that. I oversee vehicle temperature checks, ensure our vans are clean, organised, and roadworthy, and manage the efficient and secure loading of orders by our drivers. This all supports the coordination of over 120 daily deliveries to clients across Central London.
Recently, I’ve taken on an additional role: conducting final checks on food orders before they leave our premises. Did you know that every order passes through at least four pairs of eyes before heading out the door? Drawing on my deep understanding of our products and presentation standards, I help ensure that every item leaving our kitchen embodies Eden’s dedication to excellence.
What’s the most memorable job you’ve worked on for Eden?
The most memorable event I’ve worked on at Eden has to be a large event for Tideway Tunnels. It was an incredibly busy day at Old Billingsgate, catering for thousands of guests. Things didn’t get off to the best start - Jeremy and I loaded the van to full capacity, only for it to break down just five minutes after leaving Eden! 😳 But despite the rocky start, after a very long day, the event was a huge success.
What do you enjoy most about working at Eden?
That's simple: colleagues at all levels, including directors, treat each other with respect. While it can get extremely busy and intense ensuring everything is accurate and on time, there's always room for a laugh in between - and that's exactly how it should be.
Do you have a favourite menu item, past or present?
Can I have a few? Hot bowl meal: Chicken Arrabbiata, Sandwich: Brie & Cranberry on Tunnbröd, Canapé: The new Fable No-Duck Spring Roll! (Pssst... it's not available until the Spring menu!)
